NAIST Career Guidance Session Held at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand

2025/03/10

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Mr. Naoya Taniguchi, UEA and Special Assistant Professor of the Career Services Section, visited Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, to conduct a NAIST Career Guidance Session. This event was organized in collaboration with Associate Professor Kuakarun Krusong from the Department of Biochemistry at Chulalongkorn University.

Chulalongkorn University is one of Thailand's top educational and research institutions. Since signing an academic exchange agreement with NAIST in 2009, both universities have promoted collaboration in education and research. In the field of biochemistry and molecular biology, NAIST's Biological Sciences Division and Chulalongkorn University offer a double-degree program, strengthening academic ties between the two institutions.

The session was attended by 10 students who have interest in the double-degree program to NAIST and working opportunities in Japan. The event covered various career-related topics, including:

  • An introduction to job hunting in Japan
  • The qualities sought by Japanese industries in international professionals
  • NAIST's diverse career support initiatives for international students

Following these discussions, the session featured examples of NAIST alumni who have successfully secured employment in Japanese companies and academic positions in Japan. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students engaged in discussions about career opportunities in Japan.

NAIST has been selected for the MEXT J-PEAKS (Program for Forming Japan's Peak Research Universities) program in FY 2024. As part of this initiative, NAIST aims to:

  • Recruit and nurture talented individuals from Southeast Asia
  • Strengthen ties with industry, government, and academia in both Japan and students' home countries

Building on this foundation, NAIST plans to deepen its collaboration with Chulalongkorn University and enhance partnerships with other top universities in Thailand and Southeast Asia in the coming years.
